Survey Monkey Results

Survey Monkey results

Almost 100% of responses from my survey got this question correct, this was to see how popular Call of Duty series are, because my game cover is going to have some battle/war features on it. My game is going to be popular because games similar have many attention.
63.64% of responses from my survey preffered That the characters masks should have 3-4 colours on it therefore I added that many colours to make the masks stand out and and give them more detail instead of having a few selection of colours.

54.55% of responses preferred a half face mask, whilst the other 45.45% preferred a full face mask, therefore for the hero I added a half face mask and for the villain I added  make a full face mask for - scary effects.

Over 80% of responses chose dark with some light therefore for the villains cove rI added dark with some light and for the hero character I made the background  bright and sunny.
From my results from question six I  got  45.45% of people stating that I should have the hero on the front cover and another 54.55% stating that I should have the villian On the front cover, since I'm doing two game covers and a poster I made one game cover with the villain  and the other game cover with the hero on.
All responses 100% chose I should have a city scape therefore I addeda city scape for both of my backgrounds I Made one of them look dark with some light and the other cover background  bright and sunny which will be the hero.

In conclusion I believe Survey Monkeys results have helped me choose what designs were suitable for my game covers and poster, without the help of other peoples opinions It would've been hard for me to decide what to put on my game covers and poster.

Villian character creation

Firstly I traced the image I drew on paper using Adobe illustrator and the graphics tablets provided by Ncn Adams, I didnt change my design

The two tools I used was the brush tool and the eraser

This is what the finished sketch looked like. I opened the file in photoshop. to start editing it

I then added red onto another layer by using the paint bucket tool, of the mask because I wanted that part of the mask to be brighter, so the villain looks more demonic.

Moreover I added these effects onto it to give the mask detail and shadows, which gave it realism.
and shadows made it look authentic because with no shadows it looked plain and dull

Thats how I got the grunge red colour onto the mask and it made it look professional,

I then I then added a dark metal texture from Photoshops own textures to the front of the mask and then added effects on it

the affects I added was Bevel and emboss to give it smooth lines , inner shadows to make it look more detailed and to make the light come from the bottom, inner glow to give it a white border and color overlay to darken the texture.

After I added a different texture to the front and sides of the mask, the texture was metal grunge. I darkened them.

I then selected the layers on the eyes, and added a black color to it because the darker the eyes the scarier the mask looks.

I then added these effects on to the mask for a more detailed look and for the lighting to look like its coming from the bottom

The effects made the eyes look professional and gave it a white shadow. Around them which gave the mask more detail and sharpness.

In addition, I colored the middle of the eyes black and added bevel and emboss to it. For a mysterious look

After I started to design the head, I firstly selected a color to experiment the effects on.

The effects I added was bevel and emboss, inner shadow, color overlay, outer glow this gave some white shadows to the head and made it look smoother,

However I added the same texture from the sides and front of the mask to the head part but I lightened the texture on the head. so it looked a little different.

Furthermore I colored the neck in black and gave it highlights, and bevel and emboss, also I gave it shadows so it looks like the light is coming from the bottom

This is my final design for the villain, I believe this went successful, because I managed to make my character look scary, also the red on the characters mask stands out because its the only bright colour, the colour red also connotes danger which shows that this character is dangerous.

The lighting went well because it looks like the light is coming from the bottom. also the shading makes it look realistic.

What I would do to improve this character is to maybe add some texture to the neck.

Character names

Evil character name

Crimson soulkeeper

I chose this name for my evil character, because the name has a deep meaning to it that suits my evil characters appearance, personality and motive, also Soulkeeper comes across scary and shows that it is a given nickname from doing evil activities.

Hero character name

Brave gloom

I have chosen this name because my character is going to be brave because he is on his own and he is taking over evil. furthermore gloom means darkness and my character is going to have some darkness to him because hes going to take over evil. and he will need to have balanced emotions in order to do this.

Description:

London city has turned into a crisis zone, it has been taken over by the Soul-keeper's.You are Brave Gloom who is the only agent left to fight back, will you defeat them? or will the crisis never end.

Hero character creation

When firstly editing , using the graphics tablet on adobe illustrator and using the brush tool and eraser tool I managed to trace my sketch design, I changed the design of the mask a little bit and I also added a closeup face and hat onto the character, so I didn't have to add them on separately I did them all at once.

This is what the final  design looked like after I finished tracing and changing it.

I copied the villain onto photoshop to start adding colours/textures and designs/ shadows to give life to the character and make him look realistic.

When editing the mask I added any colour to the area I wanted the texture on this is mandatory if you want to add a texture.

Furthermore I made a layer with the texture and by pressing CTRL + ALT and clicking in-between the two layers I managed to add the texture onto the colored area. I added a mesh texture this is to make the character breath easier

And that is how I added the mesh texture onto the sides

After that I added some colour onto the mask (any colour)

Then I added some Bevel and emboss to my chosen colour and I also added inner shadows onto it on the layer style so it looks professional and sharp for when I add texture to it

I done the same process when I added the mesh which was pressing CTRL + ALT and clicking in between the two layers, ( the texture layer and the layer I want the texture to be on)

This is how I created the texture onto the mask side of the mask and a little bit on the front which covers the nose

For the middle section I done the same thing by adding the same texture (grunge) but changing the colour of it to silver and adding inner shadows to make it look darker.

When creating the Helmet I used the gradient tool and made half of it grey fading into black

I then added bevel and emboss and inner shadows to make the helmet look smooth and sharp and to give it a metallic look,

In addition I added a neck onto the character by using the Line tool and warping it so it looks curved

I then added a texture onto the neck (this texture was from  Photoshops own selection  ) I added this to give it a fabric look I also added a stroke effect so the lines on the neck was thicker.

Moreover I added two blue eyes which I created in Illustrator I added them onto the character, to make them stand out when your looking him.

These are the tools I used when editing the eyes, Bevel and emboss to make them stand out more and to brighten them up, also I added inner shadows,  inner glow and drop shadow,  because there is light coming from the left hand side

I also used the ellipse tool to create the two circle white dots in the middle of the eyes for more realism

I then added a colour onto the face of the character (skin colour)

Furthermore I edited the skin colour layer and I added effects onto it

I used bevel and emboss , also I added one of photo shops stock textures to give it a skin look and so its not smooth all the way around, I added some stroke and inner shadows to make it look realistic.

I then went onto Adobe  illustrator to draw eyebrows onto my character I sketched them from an image i made it similar to the image.

I then copied the eyebrows I drew onto photo-shop and I filled the colour to extremely dark grey and I used the eraser tool to add skin effects effects onto it by choosing an erasor that looks like hair particles

That made the eyebrows look realistic I then used a normal eraser to fade some bits of the eyebrow onto the skin. as you can see.

This is my final design for the hero character I believe everything went well , all the colours and shadows make my character have realism, the light coming from the left made it look professional because if the image didn't have shadows it wouldn't look as genuine.

To improve my character I could add some texture onto the hat but altogether my final design went successful.
